Public Transport
|
|
| Public transport commuters have several choices depending upon the distance, time, and money at hand. While the traditional local bus service and private auto and taxi services are readily available, Hyderabad-specific services such as Shared Auto and MMTS are also worth considering. |
|
Shared autos
These autorickshaws can be found plying between destinations
as close as half a kilometer upto or even more than 10 kilometers.
The shared autos are shared between passengers who want to commute
on the same route for similar or different distances.
The auto driver announces to waiting passengers along the road if his auto is available for "share".
He then charges the passengers on a per-head basis. You may need to pay even as less as Rs 4 for short distance travels, without having to wait for a bus or experience the push and pull in the rush. |

For public transport commuters, the MMTS
or Multi Modal Transport System, or in layman terms the
local rail service, is a boon in disguise. Spanning across the twin
cities from Secunderabad to Lingampally, it helps
you bypass the traffic congestions and the resultant pollution.
Check out the details of the MMTS such as timings, stations, and routes at the MMTS page.
